Dr. C. L. Prabhakar, Prof. & HOD of Department
of Sanskrit (Retd.), National
College, Jayanagar,
founded the Kendra in 1994. The Kendra that started off with 4 members
today has more than 600 members all over the world. The Kendra is also home of the “World
Association for Vedic Studies” (WAVES) Organization’s Bangalore Chapter.
Objectives of the Kendra:
·
To impart training in the recitation of the Veda
mantras, Veda suktas (such as-Shanthi Mantras, PurushaSuktam, SriSuktam,
NarayanaSuktam, Namakam, Chamakam, Mahanyasam, Mahanarayanopanishat,
Mantrapushpam, Arunaprashnam, NavagrahaMantras, etc….) useful for the
"Nitya Karma Anushtana" like Sandhya Vandanam, Devatarchana,
etc…. for free of cost. The classes will
include explanations to what is being recited; discussion on basics of
Sanskrit language to encourage correct and meaningful recitation.

To conduct lectures, lecture demonstrations, homas
and cultural festivities related to the Vedas, Astrology, Yoga, Religion,
Music and Philosophy. In particular, to celebrate the important
“Utsavas” such as MahaShivaratri, RamaNavami, GaneshaChaturti,
Purandara-Tyagaraja-Dikshitar-Ramadasa-Annamacharya Aradhana &
GitaJayanti.

Dr.
C. L. Prabhakar, Director of the Kendra/President of WAVES Bangalore
Chapter, heads the activities of this Department.

Department of Nada (Music):
Dr.
T. Seetharama Lakshmi (Wife of Dr.C.L.Prabhakar) heads the activities of
this Department. The Department conducts FREE training
classes on Kirtanas of Annamacharya on every Saturday at 3.30PM at the

The
"Annamacarya
Troupe"
led by Dr.T.Seetharama Lakshmi has performed at many important occassions
at various prestigious venues in and around Bangalore. The troupe includes All India
Radio Violinist, Ms.SuryaPrabha. The Department’s training classes are
attended regularly by more than 40 students/members.

M.A., Ph.D. (Vedic Studies) – Kendra Director, Department
of Veda

Dr.
C. L. Prabhakar is a Vedic scholar. He hails from Bangalore. He obtained his Masters
Degree in Sanskrit from Dharwad University and Ph.D. for his thesis on ‘Sukla
Yajur Veda’ from Poona
University. He has
over thirty years of teaching experience as a Professor and has published
more than 300 research papers. He has also authored three books:

Sukla Yajur Veda (Vol. I to IV)
2.
Tapo Anustana Manjari: A compendium of Vedic Mantras for Daily Worship
3.
Soundarya Lahari Prayoga Yoga: A Manual
He
is also the Chief Editor of the monthly bulletin “Veda Nada Sarit” and
the Annual Journal “Veda Ganga”, all published by the Veda Sruti
Publications.
He
has served as Faculty and Head of the Sanskrit Department, National College. He is now an Adjunct
Professor of Vedas at Hindu
University, USA.
As the Director of Nada Veda Adhyayana Kendra and President of Bangalore
chapter of WAVES (USA), he is actively engaged in spreading the message
of the Vedas to communities in India
and USA.

SeetharamaLakshmi,
M.A., Ph.D. (Carnatic Music) – Department of Music

Dr.T.
Seetharama Lakshmi is a Vocalist, Violinist and Musicologist. She hails
from Kuchipudi, Andhra Pradesh. She obtained her Masters Degree in Music
(Violin) and Ph. D. for her thesis on ‘A study of the compositions of
Tyagaraja and Purandaradasa’ from the Bangalore University. She has over thirty years of music
teaching experience as a Professor and has published more than 100
research papers in music. She has also authored two books:

Both
the books have been published by the Veda Sruti Publications.
She
has guided several candidates for doctoral studies. She served as the
Faculty of Music at the Bangalore
University and as
Principal of Hindupur Govt. College. As the Director of Nada Department
of the Veda Adhyayana Kendra, she teaches Carnatic classical vocal and
violin music. She organizes “Composers Day” for several great composers
such as Tyagaraja, Muthuswamy Dikshitar, Purandaradasa, Annamacharya,
Ramadasu, etc. She also holds an annual music festivity to encourage young
artists.
